Description :

CEDPA provides a supportive and participatory learning environment for south-to-south exchange of best practices and experiences, technical depth, strategy development and skill building.

WomenLead offers up-to-date technical knowledge and successful approaches for community and civil society participation in reconstructing and revitalizing essential institutions and services; promoting multisectoral alliances and increased accountability; and strengthening women’s participation in political and decision-making processes. It provides improved competencies in leadership, management, fundraising, communications and advocacy. The workshop includes site visits to related programs, NGOs and donors.

Major workshop themes include:

Gender and Governance ~ conduct gender analysis of post-conflict policies, programs and actions; examine and apply tools to address gender dimensions; assess impact of different stages of conflict on women’s lives; explore the role of women in peace building efforts Contextual Analysis and Advocacy ~ assess political/policy environments and their impact on social, economic and political programs and participation; understand women’s human rights and international conventions; build advocacy skills; and develop strategies for building networks The Continuum of Conflict and A Culture of Peace ~ apply conflict analysis tools and indicators; analyze critical elements of pre-conflict, conflict and post-conflict situations and develop responsive strategies Management ~ develop and apply tools and techniques for effective human, financial and other institutional resource management; assess and develop strategies for organizational sustainability Dimensions of Leadership ~ identify and strengthen personal and professional leadership traits to build confidence, and design and implement responsive, quality programs Strategic Communications ~ understand and apply strategic communication techniques to educate, motivate and mobilize communities, decision makers, and institutions
