UNFPA and UNIFEM, as Co-Chairs of the UNAIDS Inter-Agency Task Team on Gender and HIV/AIDS are pleased to announce the release of a new tool to assist in the response to HIV/AIDS - the Resource Pack on Gender and HIV/AIDS. Developed by the UNAIDS Inter-Agency Task Team on Gender and HIV/AIDS, this Resource Pack aims to strengthen the impact of national HIV/AIDS programmes by tackling a key underlying factor that fuels the epidemic: gender inequality.

The Resource Pack analyzes the impact of gender relations on the AIDS epidemic and provides guidance, including tools for effective advocacy and programming and contains the following tools:

  • Operational Guide on Gender and HIV/AIDS: A Rights-Based Approach.
  • Review paper, 'Integrating Gender into HIV/AIDS Programmes'.
  • 17 Fact Sheets with concise information on gender-related aspects of HIV/AIDS.
